Saint Bernard Pet Care Flea and Tick Spray is a gentle flea and tick treatment formula designed to kill fleas and brown dog ticks on dogs.
Saint Bernard Pet Care Flea and Tick Spray is ideal to use in pets with difficult to control flea or tick infestations. Flea and tick infestations can cause discomfort to your pet, by biting and irritating them. In some cases, where your pet is allergic, a more severe disease can form called Flea Allergic Dermatitis.
What are Fleas and why should I control them?
The common flea (Ctenocephalides felis) is an external parasite of both dogs and cats. At the minimum, the flea causes irritation to your pet by biting them and causing itching. In some cases your pet can become allergic to the flea saliva, leading to Flea Allergic Dermatitis. Your pet can end up with other dermatitis conditions secondarily to itching and self-trauma, which can make treatment even more tricky.
If this weren’t enough, fleas can also transmit other diseases and parasites, including Dipylidium caninum (a tapeworm), which can be transmitted to both your pet, or even humans!
With fleas what you see is not necessarily what you get. They lay eggs at a rate of knots, which fall into carpets, gaps between floorboards etc, and getting rid of them altogether can be a time-consuming process. Keeping on top of fleas before they can reproduce, and treating the environment is the key.
And what about Brown Dog ticks?
Brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) are found throughout Australia, and are also an external parasite of both dogs and cats. They too cause irritation to your pet by biting them, but other signs include:
- Skin irritation
- Sudden death
Additionally, Brown Dog Ticks can spread diseases such as Babesia (an intracellular parasite that lives inside red blood cells).
Each tick can lay up to 4,000 eggs, which can hatch in as little as 3 weeks.
How does Saint Bernard Pet Care Flea and Tick Spray work?

And secondly, it contain methoprene an IGR (insect growth regulator), which prevents the fleas and ticks from reproducing, so even if they lay eggs, those eggs will never hatch. Simple as that!
